Indeed, better educated does not automatically equal more intelligent. And while the few studies directly going for intelligence/religion goes well with his statement they're just not large enough to say that atheists are the most intelligent minority in america.
It's not a very far fetched conclusion though.
Or you could just bitch about the word minority and go with "mensa is probably the most intelligent minority..."
