CTF_Grassy Glen (updated!)

Hey there peeps, I made a map and voilà, here it is. :) Took me a while to get it right, but it turned out nice I think. The layout was a bit tricky, if anybody has any constructive criticism then I'm all ears. :D

(Btw, it's not waypointed)

Nice layout although are both sides equal, balanced and playtested correctly?

Map updated, click links for updated pics, you may have to refresh them. The layout is a bit more closed now in some ways, plus I removed some camping spots and lowered jet fuel a lot.

I did test it, but not enough to make sure last time I think. This one should be much better, but it still needs playtesting with actual people, I'll get to that in a short while. Have fun :)

I see you have put much effort on this :)

Looks:
-Looks pretty nice, I like the bg change that you did, the yellow was UGLY.
-Bottom and top route looks nice
-Middle route is nice too, but the scenery usage is heavy. I'm pretty sure it will cause lag on slow computers, since you got so many big trees there.

Layout:
-Bottom route is nicely designed, it isn't just common fast route, it's having some tactical places.
-Spawns at top are interesting thing, players could defend middle route from there

-The thing that sucks in this map are flag spawns and player spawns next to flag. It makes defending much much more easier, especially in bravo base. I guess there aren't good flag places atm, bases should be entirely redesigned.

-Always when you are designing map remember this: the bases are the most important thing, the rest of map should just support that bases work. Basic misstake for starters is that the entrances are too small to get in base as we can see also in this map.

-Also I recommend smaller maps, they got better chance to get popular

Hello again!  :D Thanks for the comments, it really does help o)

Check the first post again for new pics and cool thumbnails. :)

I fixed up pretty much everything and gave the map some more space. The most important change is the fact I lowered the amount of huge sceneries, I understood many people had extremely low FPS counts on the older version... :P

Yeah, thanks. :) I was having fps problems on the desktop computer. :/

For one thing, you shouldn't be using the fx_p_clouds at all in general. They're laggy, looks terrible (at least to me anyways) and doesn't fit very well with some themes.

Amb clouds sk is where it's at. :)

maybe he could try to waypoint it himself, there are enough good guides out there here on soldatforums which will help him to get it started :)

this map should be on all the popular servers. Having the flags in a hole, however, can be the most frustrating thing on the planet. I belive that the upper spawn points should not be so close to the center of the map...but closer to the flags. As for the small indents on the first uper platforms...I'm a big fan, cause they're not great for camping, but are great for quick reload etc. and I also like the signle narrow point in the lower route, they're always fun
