Mapping idea

Hyo,

Taking a look at htf_Catch nice visualshttp://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=36178.0 ;
and ctf_Haul nice infinite jet feature http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=37270.0

I made a sketch using mspaint. Only the polies mostly, without some scenaries art for now. Well, i dont ever downloaded the polyworks, so if that kind of gameplay works, i will need to learn how to map lol. Doest that gameplay works?

The borders could be deadly, idk, some ideas might fit well.

I suggest you download polyworks and start playing with it, so you can get used to the controls and how it works. There are various how-to's and guides lying around here for your reference.

As for the map, it looks a bit to open, but it'd be nice practice for learning PW.

That layout doesn't fit in infinite jet feature very well :S. Yes you can set infinite jet, but I can't see reason why someone would fly infinite there. It's like setting infinite jets in ctf_Rotten, but nobody got reason to use jets there that much.

Nice plan for looks, seems like cool polyart.

Well, the map is big, those flag/player/objects are not the real proportion.
Prolly the real proportions is that, based on htf_Catch:


Maybe if the lower player respawn can even see the upper on screen, it might fit the fulljet idk...

As sprayer blok, i though sometime like those htf_desert and ctf_raspberyr hanging rocks(fitting the theme), some only bullet collider, some only player collider, some normal, some just fake, just random, you know.

Even though this layout sketch is kinda raw it might become a base for an interesting map. However it needs some more details and fresh approaches compared to alike maps (those you mentioned and others such as DragonWars, IceBeam-like etc.). Try making layout asymmetrical. i think platforms would be better if they weren't flat and ideally horizontal.
