Nades are overpowered, yet inconsistent enough to the point where it pisses people off. The closer a nade lands to the feet, the more damage it does. But it's such a messed up scale that feet are instant death, while hits to the tip of the head barely does any damage. This coupled with the so-so netcode and likely some bugs as well means that you often didn't deal the amount of damage you should have.

This is something that can't effectively be tweaked by twiddling in the weapons' configuration file. It's hardcoded and a suggestion should be posted in the Game Improvements / Suggestions subforum to change the behaviour. If it gets enough positive feedback it may be changed.

Personally I think nades should deal ~40% no matter where they hit.

Nades aren't overpowered, I could probably play vs ANYONE and keep a 100% win rate if I only have a primary weapon vs somebody that only got nades.
nades are hard to master, and if you're using a 1 hit kill weapon, you are relying a lot on the nades.

what I've noticed is that, if you're crouched you're likely to only take maybe 50-60% dmg, whereas if you prone you take 100% dmg (not all players, some doesn't take damage from nades at all (i.e, fins, germans, czech).

I realllly have a hard time seeing why nades should be nerfed.

Granted, "overpowered" was a poor choice of word. Calling them unbalanced seems more appropriate as they'll cause whatever amount of damage they feel like. Skill and practice can only help so much in controlling the damage. And if we factor in lag - having nades able to 1-hit kill as opposed to doing zero damage is an insanely unfair contrast. It adds a stupid and pointless random factor that likes to present itself at the worst possible moments.

So bottom line, have a constant medium amount of damage for nades.

I guess you start failing at the worst possible moments. if you toss a loose nade when somebody is attacking you then it's quite likely it'll be a 1 hit kill, because he is falling towards the nade and the nade isn't being thrown at him (which makes it less likely you'll hit the torso instead of feet).

making the dmg from nades a constant removes the from below angel and makes the only good attack angel from above (due to head shots)... so then we can just remove all low routs since they will be completely useless. then we can have your slow and passive defensive game that you like so much.

Fair enough. Have feet cause more damage like now, but severely tighten the extremes. A hit to the feet should not kill, and a hit to the head should not be just a mere nuisance. Then we can keep your blitzkrieg tactics that you and Hitler like so much.

blitzkrieg only works for hitler tho ;o, in soldat polaks never dies.

but yes... maybe have feet 100% dmg and head + torso = 50-60% or something like that (now head is like 48% or something, takes 3 head nades to kill).

Which is ridiculous; Ever seen a guy take buckshot to the face and live, and another guy take buckshot to the legs and die? (Instantly, that is)
Let's be logical here :/

Actually, it's 2D, for all you know the first 6 could've just scratched his cheeks/ears/something.
But no mistaking a bullet with a hand grenade going off anywhere near the head.
