On Selling Yourself/Product
« on: September 13, 2010, 01:17:50 pm »
Even if you have a quality product better than somebody elses ("better" being completely relatively from person to person sometimes), you may have an uphill climb in selling it or getting your point across so that the other person assimilates it, or the idea.

I have found the true meaning of these business politics out with a fairly safe/simple situation.

I have taken upon myself the job of graphically sprucing up www.lrstar.org. I actually have the priviledge of knowing the computer programmer behind the website and parser generator and I must say that, from what I know, the parser is pretty incredible. It is currently free, so if any of you are interested in this sort of stuff (writing computer language/making search engines), I'd recommend that you take a look, or at least archive it somewhere for [potential] future use.

So yes. The challenge that has presented itself to me is: how do I efficiently "sell" (influence his opinion toward) my graphical designs without being a dumbass and screwing with the relationship. I'm pretty damn new to business. I know one... have designs that are actually worth using. lol

I assume you have some designs ready yet? If so, you could post an example here so we can discuss further / give you critique.

Do you get a reward for this? Putting the word sell into inverted commas makes it doubtable..

A reward? Assuming you mean money, no. Link to examples added in top post. Thanks for the suggestion.

In that case, just gently ask if you can help out with some graphics and present them via external links so he won't be confronted with them without deciding himself to click on the link.

Once again, thanks for the tip, buuut

Fudge it. I'm going to get my hands on some renowned marketing books and go from there.
