Nades and lags, server list, kicks, win7 problems, chat mute
« on: December 18, 2010, 01:33:49 pm »
1) nades, m79 bullets
- the players very often survive a nade or m79 bullet hit right into the face and fly away with 1% hp left or so, annoying
- flying grenade sometimes instantly kills you, you don't even see it coming at you, there is no explosion at all and the grenade really explodes somewhere else later
- when a nade or m79 bullet is passing closely near the player, sometimes it throws the player away like if it exploded, but it doesn't hit him nor explode

2) server list
- it would be nice to see if the server has realistic mode on or off without having to scroll the list to the right
- you cannot really tell if some server is using weapon mod or not because most of them doesn't put (wm) in their name

3) public server kicks
- this happens all the time - some 2 turds decide to duel on some public server and kick everyone that joins the game instantly out
- i'm not sure there is workaround for this, but you could try to implement something clever, like the server could detect and prevent such behavior (optionally of course, for public servers)

4) win7
- anti-aliasing is not working
- the game freezes for about 1/2 sec every few seconds

5) chat mute
- how do i mute someone with nickname like ]]]OMFG^^/**IamARetardSoIHaveRetardedNickname===ee>> if i have to type the whole thing manually and with exact case into the console? impossible
- what about just a mute button in the player list, what about that?

Ad.1. It's been discussed many times. New devs are working on the netcode to fix this (at least they say they do).
Ad.2. You've got filters, right? You can choose only realistic. Unless you mean the other way around - search only for non-realistic servers - f12.
Ad.3. Set vote_percentage in soldat.ini to 80%. I think this should solve that issue.
Ad.4. Anti-aliasing never bothered me and I have never experienced those freezes about which you're talking about. (I'm using win7x64.)
Ad.5. /mute command uses player's IDs. You can check IDs by pressing f1 while typing a command.

1 - Agreed. An annoying bug which should be addressed.

2 - Would be a good Filter feature, maybe have all modded servers have (WM) or similar.

3 - Yes, they are annoying, but I feel their pain. I don't think it would really be worthy of the developers time to hardcode this feature into servers to deal with this, however scripts might be able to stop people.

4 - Yup, Windows 7 has its issues with Soldat, again, should be fixed.

5 - Correct me anyone if I'm wrong, but can't you use their PlayerID?
Instead of writing their crazy nickname, just use their number instead. To find out their number....
Ingame, press / while viewing the F1 menu. By each player name, to the left, is a number which is their ID. You can use this number in a variety of admin functions - /kick [number], /ban [number] and funnily enough /mute [number].
If using some remote admin software, you will find somewhere a list of player names in the server, and among other details on the player, you'll find that ID which you can use in the functions shown above and more.

EDIT:
Ad.3. Set vote_percentage in soldat.ini to 80%. I think this should solve that issue.
I would think that would only work in your own server, where it was your soldat.ini that controlled the server...

2 - isn't (WM) added automatically to servers name when it uses modified weapon mod? I haven't added (WM) manually and in lobby you can see that it has (WM) in it's name.

It is.. but sometimes you log into server that doesnt have it in its name but there is a weapon mod anyway.
