Let's discuss about this game mode.
Has anyone here ever think about this part of Soldat? Why this question? It's because I can't see this game mode becoming competitive.. How you will compete if you "born" with an enemy behing you? You can't made tatics, it doesn't exist in a game that you only need to kill an enemy front one meter. When you set survival mode we can get think about tatics and the game begins to look like Counter Strike. And now you probably will fight versus the weapon startup, lag, eat, cheats or something else on maps like Unlim, Arena2(omg, you can't play a competitive 3vs3 match at this place!!!), Bridge, Leaf, Tropiccave(want a map with bugs? play there!) and others, maybe.

Another thing that need to be improved: SURVIVAL MODE. Please, watch the brazilian TM+S scene (they play more than 30 matchs per day for communities rankings... USING THIS GAME MODE) and you will know what I'm sayin. REALLY. It need to be improved.

Important: Don't put DM maps to be played at TM. VERY important!

And, you need to define whats a DM map and what is a TM map. Maybe using prefixes? I think that you don't know, but Aero don't have team-respawn areas and some communities don't know if that map can be played at "oficial"/competitive matches.

Hmm. Lemme think. With survival, die after everyone dead don't look good. It can't be like counter strike? You only disappears and return to the base and play the next round? Would be good if you give us a variable to set the time that we need to wait for the next round. At for fun games instant cicle can be a good choice and a 1~3 seconds for competitive matchs.

Why do you focus that much on the competitive scene? The competitive scene is about CTF and INF, real team-based gamemodes. TDM/DM/PM/RM is about fun and nothing else. But as you took the Brazilian community as an example, I'll reply anyway:

The matches depend on which maps are chosen by the players. It's up to them whether they want to play one of the DM maps or a different one. Heck, a lot of people play DM and TM matches on CTF maps as well. I even believe that being able to spawn anywhere adds more fun to a match. You don't know where your enemy will spawn and he neither, except you both spawn on the same spot. And afaik you don't really die after a round, you simply "fall" without your deathcount increasing.

And if you seriously want to blame lags/eats/weapon startup (lol) and cheating, where does that get us? ... Just record your matches and ban cheaters, play against clans from your country so the ping matches.

There's something called scripting - this way you can achieve those rounds which you've mentioned. In soldat.ini there is also something called wave respwan time, if used properly it can give you the feel of the rounds.

Wave-respawntime don't give to TM+S players a round feeling, trust me, I have tried this in a championship.

So, I can go to the brazilian community and tell that "the only competitive game modes are CTF and INF, the real team based modes!"? It doesn't change the fact: exist a competitive TM+S (teammatch survival) scene and since I know me as a Soldat player that teammatch is ignored and excluded from updates or something else.

They are all wrong trying to spend his time practicing at this mode, because it will never be at the middle of the development focus, right?

Today, some TeamMatch Survival matchs look to be unfair by some problems, I could tell you that since 2005 the hope of updates for TeamMatch/TM+S(it exist since 2003 in Brazil) are becoming big. Like everyone here wanna know what the dev team is doing, they want to know if the dev team are thinking about changes for TM.

They certainly don't. The only Brazilian Soldat player I know on this forum is duz who is not really active tbh.

Wait, do you say that you should remove maps, because TM is not in focus of the development? I don't know how much you know about mapping, but couldn't you just ask to move team spawns away from each other to seperate them? Either way, I see balance problems here, but that's no reason to remove a map.

Suggestions, for now:

- Maps: Team respawn areas need to be reviewed. (I think that doesn't make sense putting 2 teams at the same base) Some maps need bug fixes, changes at structure and a new visual.
- Prefixes: Arena2 and Aero(no exist team respawns) can't be played at TM. It's what I think about. You can remake these maps and solve the problem, then prefixes become unnecessary if you can play TM at all DM maps.

First of all, thanks for finally making sense ;)

You can make a first step by bringing up a discussion about certain maps here. Ask a mapper for a remake, and do what you cannot not do, but stop asking the developers for removing maps without good reasoning.

Another suggestion, it involves TM too.

A problem with the brazilian TM Survival scene it's that everyone plays using Barret/m79 with Ussocom/Law. I think that the game could have a system to limit the weapons usage. Like: The admin could set how many players can use Autos, semi autos, Barret and m79 or just boxes for all weapons, leaving the admin able to limit the number of any weapons at the match. Now the championships can create a default rule for this. Like Day of Defeat (the game), 1 sniper, x lights, x heavys and bla bla bla. It can be used by everyone not only by a brazilian team match survival.

It doesn't need a huge code, right?

I actually released a script that can limit certain weapons for teams. You just gotta search for it.
