Bot?

In any case if you didnt know of Hamachi I would be really surprised. Its an interesting way to bypass networking troubles and simulate a LAN. But if we required a virtual LAN to join a soldat server, its either a) has no idea how to create a server; or b) is a bot enticing you to LAN with them for some malicious purpose.

Thats why you create a server, not a virtual LAN...

Nobody is going to install Hamachi just to try and join your server.  Why can't you make your server public?

Just write the name of the server? Its not that there will be a dozen of "xxup's server" named servers.

Why would you need hamachi to play soldat anyway

he just said that he does not have an external IP... Which (i guess) means that he couldn't redirect the ports on his router.

he just said that he does not have an external IP... Which (i guess) means that he couldn't redirect the ports on his router.

More likely it means that his ISP gives him a 192.168.x.x (or 10.x.x.x or 172.16-31.x.x) IP address instead of one that is actually routed on the Internet (meaning that he's permanently behind a NAT that he has no control over).

This is one of the reasons why IPv6 adoption is needed - if everyone on the Internet is behind a NAT as IPv4 addresses continue to run out, gaming and other things will become virtually impossible.  IPv6 does away with NAT as every device gets its own IP address, so every device can talk to every other device (like the Internet was originally designed for)

If it's possible to change IPv6 without contacting ISP, tell me how to do that

Soldat (and almost all other games) do not currently support IPv6.  You should call up your ISP and tell them you want IPv6 since you don't have a real IPv4 address (everyone here should be telling their ISP that they want IPv6!)

There is something I wrote about how IPv6 should be worked into gaming.
