Seems that what i originally said wasn't clear, and that possibly "realistic" is the wrong word to use.. There's no need for any servers to update weather effects etc, or any RS-232 communicating with a thermometer somewhere in your rooftop etc. I'm talking about simple "pre-rendered"/pre-installed things that would run on the client-side (i.e. on your computer) just by consulting the calendar. So basically 4 different settings for 4 seasons (with possibly a southern-northern hemisphere variation). No lag (no more than the actual snow-rain in maps) , no extra packets to travel.
