Hello everyone!

This is most likely the last beta/rc/test version before the final version so make sure you test it!
Please let us know if there is something wrong or if we forgot to fix some bugs.


The english.txt has a new line so don't worry if there is an empty checkbox in the config.exe.

Soldat 1.6.6b2 changelog:
- Added scale interface option to config
- Modified decreased the freecam movement deadzone so the sudden speed change won't be as abrupt
- Modified loading Textures to be like in the stable version again**
- Fixed player names positioned incorrectly when Scale_Interface=0 was set**
- Fixed backflips were harder to perform due to fix for #380**
- Fixed not being able to prone cancel while holding down the reload button #416**
- Fixed pressing multiple conflicting keys (reload, throw grenade, throw weapon, change weapon) should only perform the latest key pressed


Soldat 1.6.6b1 changelog:
- Added the ability to roll out of prone when on ground
- Modified made self-bink halve accumulation rate anytime when crouched or proned, and not only when staying still
- Modified the unprone animation to be "slippery" so you don't lose momentum when touching ground with it
- Fixed players appearing to be in a prone position when they weren't #326
- Fixed player's momentum often vanishing when coming out of a roll #369
- Fixed proning and unproning would interrupt the Spas' reload #379
- Fixed unproning would interrupt the weapon throwing animation
- Fixed pressing both Left and Right should move you in the new direction #380

Maps 2.7.6b2 changelog:

- Modified ctf_Crucifix background color slightly lighter to make better contrast in the bottom
- Modified ctf_Crucifix darkened a little the white barbwires
- Modified ctf_Crucifix top and bottom colliders set from front to middle
- Fixed ctf_Crucifix large pillars set to back because they where too easy to

The bigger the changelogs, the better! Keep on pushing new versions and we'll maybe even see a rise in total number of players? :)

Agreed, are devs even aware that this is a pretty big bug/problem?
For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.

I don't mean to sounds like such a stickler, but that was introduced in 1.6.4 or 1.6.5. So it's not a new bug in 1.6.6, which is what the beta topics are for. That bug will be fixed whenever we can figure out how.

I don't mean to sounds like such a stickler, but that was introduced in 1.6.4 or 1.6.5. So it's not a new bug in 1.6.6, which is what the beta topics are for. That bug will be fixed whenever we can figure out how.
That's all I wanted to know. Would have been nice if someone wrote that in a comment on the bug tracker.

Example: Holding A + D would now always push you to the LEFT.

Pressing W + A/D (any direction key) in air would make you stop, move neither left nor right, that's an awful addition.
Previous flowing moving animation was much better, easier to speed up and do speedy stunts, now it's destroyed.
The movement is awful now, it looks like you sometime trip on the ground when you accidently press the other directional key, as the character instantly stops on the spot.

No other bugs noticed so far, will check some wallshots later.

- A+D does not allways push you to the right. If you push A last you will go left, if you push D last you will go right.

- Pressing W + A/D (any direction key) in air would make you stop. This is not an addition, it has allways been like that. Not sure what I think about it though...

- ''sometime trip on the ground''. It's called fake jump and it has allways been like that.

Am I right?

No, sadly you're not right.

The A+D will f*** up alot of old players, as now the movement keys overlapping will be made so that the last key pressed will decide your moving direction, and that sucks.

The W + A/D existed, but it wasn't so, let's call it weird. You instantly stop in mid air, and fall down as a statue, which has never been that way.

The "fake jump" is now happening unpurposedly, due to that new "key overlap" rule, which sucks.
Using it as a reliable and unpredictable bullet/projectile dodge, as well as a climb-map minijump is now ruined.

All that happened due to that new key overlap script, and it's going to ruin the game's smoothness in terms of movement, and it's the main part in both battles and climbing. Movement is the key. If you make it horrible (as it is in this scenario, in 1.6.6) I can asure you that you'll lose quite a part of the community.

I'm here sticking with Soldat for about 9 or 10 years now, I know my facts.

1.3.1 was the best, from there on, the attempts on fixing the netcode scripts and adding some new stuff just ruined the game.
In 1.3.1 you had done your best, now it's just going downhill, no matter if you're fixing stuff or adding new things, you're just making it worse.

After coming back, and playing 1.6.3 (which sucked), I got used to it, but then 1.6.5 came out (1.6.4 was actual for like 2 days), and now 1.6.5 is plain crap as well. HORRIBLE eats happening, worse netcode than a few years ago (I should mention 1.3.1 again).

Reverting everything to 1.3.1-esque and calling it Soldat 1.7 would be your best move, but I know that's never going to happen.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents, hope you don't mind.

have to agree with Nightking on the new movements.

Its rather weird and annoying in my eyes.
While it may seem correct its really a bad habit to get used to..

Any instructions on how to reproduce the new "weird W + A/D" issue? I get the same behavior in 1.6.6 as I do in 1.6.5. Same goes for the "fake jump" issue - I can't reproduce anything new and quirky there either.

Just played it for a while.. at start the other guy sometimes seemed to warp over huge distances. His gostek was just walking into one direction and then he warped back to his old position, I think he just stayed there for real and as soon as his client sent new coordinates mine would correct it.
I wasn't able to reproduce it under a demo though..
