Bug collection for 1.6.9.b1
« on: April 14, 2015, 09:36:24 am »
Hey, Shoozza is currently collecting bugs to fix for the next beta release.

Time to add new bug reports not in the bugtracker http://bugs.soldat.pl/ yet and add a bug to the list https://titanpad.com/soldatlovetofix that you wish to be fixed.

Quote: "Nothing netcode related since I don't have time to rewrite the whole netcode for this release."

So no color bug/med kit bug/eat etc.

So, let's go bug hunting ;]

Ok I'm in :)
I haven't done any soldat stuff in a while, but this is right up my alley. I will spend most of tomorrow trying to find bugs and possibly help clean up mantis a bit by finding duplicates or adding more info to existing tickets.
I was happy when I got automatic emails about mantis tickets being fixed, and after seing this thread I felt compelled to do something. I hope others will join the hunt.
I do have a list of unreported bugs somewhere, so all I need to do is confirm that they still exist and report them.

Well as the pad says, Shoozza plans the beta release for sunday. So not enough time to fix big stuff anyway. Might remember the list for the beta release!

Either way, shoot them up to the bugtracker so we have them there and they don't get lost. Cleaning up duplicates etc also helps :)

btw, crossposted this here http://www.sctfl.net/forums/index.php?topic=53020.0

Actually, this is pretty cool!

A major long-term problem of developing stuff for free in your spare time is: you slowly lose motivation.
Maybe instead of developing Soldat every now and then whilst every dev "works at his own pace", you could stop continuous development and switch to a chunk based one with different incents? Like, agree with other devs on a couple of days per month only, to meet online and actually do stuff. ("weekend free this month? cool, let's code the hell out of friday/saturday and release sunday") If this short-cycle release would be broken, who cares, it's not a final release anyway, but it's easier to motivate goals which are located in the near future. :)

Funny story: I decided to organise mantis ticket in old fashioned paper http://prntscr.com/6u7drd
I'm not even halfway done and I've already ran out of living room space.

I found some duplicates, closed some tickets, updated wich tickets were related to eachother, and made some comments on tickets. The work will continue this weekend

After I'm done organising I should fix the tickets related to translations.

I noticed Shoozza doing some good stuff today aswell <3

I just finished reading through and sorting all mantis tickets.

There were a lot of bugs related to #200: Packetloss of important informations so I put all of them in related to that ticket.

I'd also like to point out a few bugs that might be an easy/quick fix, incase any half-active devs wants to make it look like he's done a hell of a lot of bugfixing in a short amout of time :)

Are you aware of that one bug which occures when you join a team from a specator mode while the map changes (the scorboard shows up) and you get stuck somewhere inbetween two maps?

Yes, this is it, it's bugged for each team, not only spectator. It occurs only when u use script, because its not possible to do " esc> number 4 " after "/nextmap". I haven't tested it but maybe its possible to prevent it using OnBeforerMapChange and OnAfterMapChange events (by blocking join teams during map change).

Add this information in the ticket :)

nice work folks! awesome job organising all the bugs, I think that's pretty helpful to have for the 1.7 release. glad to see some bug fixes have found their way to the upcoming beta release. already looking forward to the next bug hunting :D

Last week was too busy.
I have to prepare the release before the weekend as much as possible.
Hopefully i can release it 2014-04-26.

Maybe I can fix some more bugs before the beta.

In case you actually had a way of time travel I'd suggest 2009 and that's despite that HIF could lose the triple from 2011.
