Don't get any of that crap that's been mentioned.

The only way to go is Jasc Animation Shop. It costs money though, hint hint ;)

Good for you.  Honestly, I can't recomend any .gif program since I don't do animations. :-\

I was able to make jrgp's current avatar in less than a minute with animation shop. It has any utility you need.

EDIT: that is one of the weakest avatars i've ever laid eyes on, Gold.
