Question: Making frag movies
« on: September 09, 2006, 04:41:42 pm »
I wanted to make a frag movie (film my kills, edit that, put nice melody, and laught to it  :P) but....

there is always a problem...
I found some nice programs for "filimg" that, but they suck, or need to be paid, and i would like some freewear...

Could anyone hook me up with some program for filming my screen that is free? (and legal)

Thanks in advance!

You could try using Soldat's command line for spewing out .bmps from a demo, then make those into a movie.
You could use Fraps to capture the demos. Since you're making a collage of frags, Frap's recording limit shouldn't be a problem.

A quick flip through Wikipedia shows that an alternative to Fraps would be this, but I think Fraps' free demo will suit your needs just fine.

if you use Windows you may have got a program called "Windows Movie Maker" (WMM). if you're recording a few movies with Fraps then inport them to WMM you can add slowmotion-effects, cut them, add music and everything important - lots of tools. and after that you save the movie-file and the movie will take maybe 20 mb on 6 mins (while the Fraps-files takes 60-80 mb - 30 sec movies!).
notice that in the unregistred version of Fraps you are only avaible to record 30-seconds-movies, and you need a fast computer to use Fraps, otherwise it'll lag as h*ll.
perhaps i helped you ;D

yeah i know that... for WMM, just needed a program that will help me film it all...

i allready found some programs that can film more than 30 sec, but they are buggy... i filmed my whole match... i pressed stop and the "BUG - DEBUG" windov poped out and i lost everything...

and that happens each time i film... it's crap...

and one more thing: i think i have good enought PC
-3.0 GHz Pentium 4
-1 GB RAM
-nVidia 6600 PRO

this is enought for some good movie making if i'm not wrong...

try old version of fraps, it was freeware

you can still find it if you stare at google for a minute or two.

captain damnit, i would suggest lowering the capture framerate in fraps, if you have it very high, your computer will lag like hell.
