I've heard Ubuntu can play soldat, but the textures aren't shown, only the edges. Also, the fonts are mirrored, but that's about it.

I tested soldat in ubuntu last night.  It is getting better, but still not quite good enough that I'd want to play it in wine.

The only OS I'd consider putting on my system would be DOS, for compatibility issues with old games.

psh my personal computer has 150 Mhz and 64 mb ram

running debian sarge linux. (Xwindow tho)
