whats the point.......
« on: October 23, 2006, 09:48:22 am »
sup y'all
I'm a Barrett user and I always see snipers prone in the air before sniping....
I thought it would enhance the accuracy or avoid bind. and I tested this theory
and...
1.the Barrett is already extremely accurate, there is no point raising it
2.you still Bink

so why so many snipers prone before sniping??????
whats the point pruning with Barrett in the air??? (apart from being smaller and slightly harder to hit)

ok i dont want to be an ass today, so....

Being prone or crouched with any weapon does 2 things for you
1. increases accuracy
2. makes it harder to be hit (less of your body is subject to enemy fire)

Number 1 is harder to tell with barret, but pick up an mp5 and stand still and burst fire it....even for burst the accuracy is fairly poor. Now try the mp5 crouching (still bursting) and you will see a nice smooth stream of bullets ready to tear up an enemy(prone will yield same results as crouch)
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

I meant for the barrett and nothing else, and man, read the thread first, I already said it raise accuracy, but for barrett is no use raising it

Ex, Bone spoke in generalities so there was no need to bash his post.
Ill add another comment to the "makes you harder to hit" factor.
However I find it humorous when people go prone when you are above them or below them, just making yourself a bigger target.

I see some people go prone with nearly any weapon, but normally in the air. I'm used to aiming for peoples' heads when I'm above them, and I can compensate for their movement when they're standing.

But when you go prone in the air and fire your jets, you go faster in one direction and you head for the ground, and it throws off some peoples' aim. Maybe some players think they're 'pro' when they do it, and sometimes it's really useful (some maps on CTF especially).

I do this and I noticed the game sometimes lags when you would get shot and you are in the process of proning you live, which is good.

Also, when you're proning you can't be moving except by gravity, which negates self-bink. I think.

Proning has no real upside in R/S however, headshots are lethal and all.

When proning in air, it can help protect you from snipers and one hit kill weapons, but makes you easy pickin's for autos.

But I typcially prone in air when I'm far from most opposition, and proning in air gives me, somehow, a more steady and easy aim.

The barret isn't accurate when in the air. Sometimes you shoot and the shot goes way of target. Completly away from where you were aiming. But when you prone, it seems to eliminate that issue. Every shot goes exactly where you're aiming. I think.
