Concerning real-life qualities
« on: October 28, 2006, 01:53:24 pm »
It's been bugging me for a while... In almost every thread about a weapon change, there is someone who decides that they should take it upon themselves to start ranting about how in real life, the weapon is like this and thus the soldat version should be like that...

Well, let me tell you that soldat has almost no need for real life implementations of weapons. The reason why is that some weapons are definitely better than others in real life. In soldat we seek a weapon BALANCE, not a weapon top10.

So please, whenever posting about changes to the balance please do not bring real-life into it, because it has no merit in the balance of soldat. It will just waste everyones time...

That's true, if it were like in real life, Barret would own the other 13 weapons :)

The Barrett wouldn't own; 'In real life' the Barrett is 13kgs.  Try jumping around and flying around with that...

Zamorak is right.  Although realism would be optimal, the fine tunings of 'realism' cannot be done, and if someone whinges about a weapon being too good; well; all weapons are designed to be better than the last one...

Real soldiers don't jump and fly around. :P It's not just the weapons, too, but the player tactics, ability to respawn, the maps, etc. This isn't generic WWII FPS simulator. It's an arcade game. Whining about realism in games is dumb. OMG NO WAY FAT PLUMMER CAN JUMP THAT HI!!1

You must understand that Mario is a visitor to the Mushroom Kingdom dimension, as he was transported there from Brooklyn through a dimensional wormhole. Clearly the way Physics work in the Mushroom Kingdom dimension would allow a fat middle-aged plumber to jump as if God himself had granted him the ability, as well as allowing animals to shoot bullets FROM THEIR MOUTHS. Mario is clearly realistic if you factor in multi-dimensional physics, E=mc^2, time/space rifts, and a healthy amount of tongue-in-cheek humor.

The above example is what most Soldat players should do: not take things so bloody seriously, and thus not whine about 'real-life qualities'.

The Barrett wouldn't own;

Well, it is camping weapon, meant for camping. It shoots it's bullets about as fast as deagles in Soldat... What can you do if one with weapon like that faced you at long range(lets say, 400 meters) and you were weilding Deagles or Ak-74? :|
