DM/HTF Hill Menden -updated-
« on: November 24, 2006, 04:41:31 pm »
Found this old thing I originally made for a LAN party and thought I'd release it to get your feedback on it. It's basically a map without that fancy new multitexturing, nor has it any custom sceneries. Also my first map... come on and hand me some constructive slaps in the face.

Supports the Deathmatch gamemodes and Hold the Flag.
Not waypointed, couldn't be arsed.

Thanks Toumaz for releasing this map.
From my point of view it's an excellent map which doesn't need much improvements...
Perhaps that big wall on the left would need some details added to it, like asperity or even holes and grass sceneries. The balance would be better compared with the right part which has lots of connecting sceneries.

Nice map anyway, it still has the good feeling of older maps we played back then.

Ooh, great vertex colors.

Most of the scenery is too bright for the overall dark atmosphere presented, and there doesn't seem to be much transparent scenery. The middle of the central boulder feels cut-off; its right side is thick and well-formed, but as it slopes down from above, the bottom doesn't follow correspondently. If the lower vertices of the left side of that boulder could be pulled down a bit, and another floating mass added under it (because just those two rocks alone feels kind of plain), it would be much better. :)

Your polygon colors and terrain are smooth and pleasing, the scenery matches very well, but your background colors are a bit dull. Try something a bit lighter for the top color, perchance.
