M79 and Spas-12

The M79 is quite annoying how easy it is to use, i made my own weapon balance for it and thought id post it and see what ya think, i also made one for the spas, insteading of just saying how bad it is...

You relise the spas is the most balanced weapon in the whole game? No need to fix it.

Nice initiative, but empirically I feel that the only influencing differances between the current "easy" M79 and the old "balanced" is the high bullet speed. It used to be somewhat 15 units lower than now, in the long run giving more time to dodge, less range, more skillful mortar-like arcs and sexy trickshooting.

Another reason why M79 can be considered overpowered or w/e is that the current semis are relatively weak. They used to be the backbone of Soldat's gameplay. Nowadays it's all automatics and 1 hit killers.


Personally I'd say that the spas does too little damage. Two solid hits from close-mid range that feels like they should kill just doesn't. So I cannot agree on lowering those.

Yeah i suppose, if the Spas was possible to be edited so that it did crap all damage from a certain distance and killed in 1 hit up close, id be happy.

EDIT: i edited the Spas12 test balance to fit more with the description of yours 5th_account and that of my friends, and i tested it and it seems to work quite better than the last one i posted and the default.

I like the way you put it.

Spas isnt a real big problem

but on the other hand m79 needs to be balanced alot!

Honestly I'd only like to see the spas tweaked just a wee-bit, maybe increase damage and time between shots by a bit.  Basically like the current experimental weapon balance you have now although I don't really see the reason for increasing the speed of the bullets.  I think increasing the damage should be enough.

I won't comment on the m79 because well I don't use it enough nor do I pay attention to people who use it ;)

I like testing stuff, ive been trying out lots of custom balance's made by me, but i havn't found one id prefer 100% over the current balance...

Startup time for" m79 - 1 "thats not enough it should be a bit less than the barret startup timer. Maybe M79 should still be a instant-gib weapon, but for that it should be hard to use!!!

well to make it more of a close range is easy, but balancing it would be difficult. to make it CQ, just halve teh origonal data from 1.3.1 and increase the damage by half. viola, it starts dropping immediately with a wide spread and the shot up close with all the buckshot kills uber instantly. but getting it jsut right is really hard. im still using teh 1.3.1 right now, so it might be diff but i also would like a fire rate and max ammo increase, perhaps 3-4 more shots and about -8 faster speed.

M79 - ...n/c - splash/self damage should be IN- not DE- crased.
Spas - no, spas is good now. It's well balanced.

a shotgun is not supposed to be able to much damage from range.... and a shotgun is killer at short range...

and in the game it doesnt reaelly work that way... it should be changed a bit

Huh?  Soldat's SPAS-12 sucks at "long range," i.e. 2/3 of a screen-width or more.  I'd say it acts just like a shotgun should, although it needs to do just a little more damage.

...and if you relise, you can shoot 6 more shots out of the shotgun, as opposed to the m79's 1.
