For you movie makers...
« on: December 20, 2006, 03:31:53 pm »
hey everyone, I was browsing warrock forums for a screen recorder that is better then fraps (mainly free) and I believe I have found one.
http://www.camstudio.org/ It's pretty neat software, And it also allows you to convert the sizable and large avi's to SWF Files. This is a big plus as it REALLY lessens the size of the video file. You can also record audio from mic or from speakers (or not record audio at all). I figured this would be good for anyone who wants to record videos of them playing. I've used it and it DOES take a little bit to render the SWF but it's worth it and you can sleep on it. You can't render it after it's been saved though unfortunately...

I have tried it. Still I think that Fraps owns. :p Fraps seems to be a bit lighter for me when capturing.

...I'm not sure whetever Vegas / Adobe Premiere can edit or open .swf files, so what we gain with the size, we lose it with... everything else?

No free program has good vector tracing capabilities so the file size will be larger than an avi. Also, *.swf has a frame limit of 16000. Which would be ~8.8 hours @ 30 fps. Where as avi and flv have no limit.

Just tried to use it....NEVER use Microsoft Video 1 for the codec....it makes everything look like crap. If I had better codecs...I'd use this program a little more.

Thanks :)
