Taking map suggestions ;Q - update
« on: December 23, 2006, 05:41:09 am »
Well, I'm officially out of ideas...My brain has gone completely dead as far as map ideas go. If anyone has any ideas for a map they couldn't make, didn't have time to make, couldn't be bothered etc. . Any ideas at all regarding themes, layout, anything are welcome...
Thanks in advance for your input  :)

Bright sandstone with dark green tops, the green is relatively thin. Lots of cliffs.

Just start placing polys and see what happens.

Make Mistercharle's idea an HTF map the way it's supposed to be. Make SURE you position the spawns in roughly the same arrangement as the Star of David (I've noticed that whenever HTF maps' player spawns are positioned in some way like this, they're always successful).

They don't have to be exact, obviously, but upon making your random Arena-style boulders or whatnot, try to maintain these general locations in spawn placement.

Any ideas on a texture?

If none of your current ones really fit, you can always try making your own or heading off to Google Images. Then you can crop some of them to the regular texture format Soldat uses, and try 'em out :)

Thanks Keron, I'll give that a go.
If not, I reckon xt-summergrassrock.bmp could work with the right colouring, what do you think?

btw, here's an idea. make maps only then, when you have ideas, not when you want to make maps. It will prevent you from getting humiliated, flamed, disrespected and smited. thx for listening.

What if you have an idea but are too lazy to make it or even write down a layout, and when you feel like mapping later, you forget about it? :P There's nothing wrong with requesting advice.

lol, @ultraman... you always make ridges like that. It's a bit annoying, IMO, but yeah, texture looks good (then again, that was Mistercharles' idea, not mine)

Ahaha, nice. I tried making maps in the shape of #s 0-9, most of them being for Inf., but I stopped after 1. If anyone wants to continue it, my horrendous inf_Shaft (1) is available at my website (in my sig.).

This is another texture, I think it looks better. Reminds of vig's htf_onix (which was never finished, let alone released, so you can't flame me for copying him)
BTW Keron, the link in your file directory to inf_shaft is broken ;Q

Good. It was horrible.

The map looks really good; I especially like how the scenery was used (but I don't like the same scenery appearing in the exact same way twice; if you could give one of those junglefloras a -100 for X, that'd be even better). If it has a decent layout and more radical coloring throughout the majority of the rest of the map, I'll check it out :)
