CoD3 on Wii
« on: January 05, 2007, 05:48:10 pm »
I just rented it and played for a few hours. It uses the Wiimote and nunchuck for controls. Though the controls can be hard to get used to if you are a computer gamer like me the gameplay makes up. The first mission isn't a crappy walk through the park, you are spit out into a war, but its not like trying to cut down an oak tree with a toothbrush, very good balance I say. The weapons are just as diverse as the orginal CoD, but no sniper rifle yet.(Shakes fist in the air) Anyway that A little preview for those of you that haven't played it. Anyway anyone that has played it; lets chat.

Another note: Sadly the melee controls are a bit lame. Especially when you are in a struggle to push off an attacking nazi. Maybe I didn't do it enough times to get it right but I was a little disspointed with that. :(

I heard it was bad, I read the review, and I saw it was biased because of "Graphical problems" honestly the Wii isn't the eyesore people make it out to be.

Well played it a little more and when you ge the controls down its awsome to play. Of course in CoD you get to drive some vehicles around and I just drove the first one. You hold your wiimote and nunchuck like you're holding a sterring wheel, quite fun, again though gotta get used to it.  I can't wait to buy this game and check out all the sweet stuff they got. One thing I forgot to mention before, you get to spot for a tank, that is look around with binoculars and tell the tank where to fire... neat stuff.

Yeah, you do all that stuff with the xbox controller, for example, instead of rowing the boat (after the driving mission) for the xbox you do a half circle clockwise and it either doesn't work and you die, or it works a little bit but you die anyway. with the wii you are just supposed to paddle.

I did not find this game much of an improvement on COD 2 (for the xbox) and I would take a keyboard and mouse over that piece of crap controller any day. I can't wait to see how the wiimote compares in the hands of an experienced pc shooter fanboy =D

Personally, I think CoD belongs on PC. The transition from computer to console could have been done alot better. The thing that gets me most is the sounds, all of the gunfire sfx are shit, as are most of the reload ones. However, I always liked to play CoD: Big Red One on XBox becuase of the ragdoll physics. When you blow someone up with a grenade, they fly 10 metres into the air...fun times.

I  need a better computer if I want CoD3 on PC. They do have it, but the minimal specs don't come anywhere near my laptop. :(
I'd buy a Wii for the simple fact that CoD is on it, and I enjoyed all the other CoD games....

One thing I noticed is alot more rubble and such, also more intellegent AI. No longer do they stick their feet outso you can shoot the foot and then fall to the ground opening up a headshot option. Still I haven't had my sniper fun yet(my sister wants to watch tv).  Also yeah I love computer fps games, but still CoD3 for Wii is worth the buy I think. Btw guys if you want me to rent some more games and tell you whats up I will.

I have Cod3 for the Ps3. online is fun, but a lot of people are really, really good.

I think the Garand is a bit overpowered though. 1 hit kill :(

I got raving rabids, but I don't know what to expect, should i expect a friggin gadjabillion quirky little 2 minute minigames, or should I expect a bunch of minigames with some sucky minigames in there to be annoying.

I'd like to hear how exite truck is, I have the gt racing game zelda and raving rabids, but alas, no wii

I heard it was bad, I read the review, and I saw it was biased because of "Graphical problems" honestly the Wii isn't the eyesore people make it out to be.

Graphical problems including shadows on the cieling even though they're supposed to be on the ground, bad and blurry textures......ugly? Plus a little performace lag in big battles I heard.....I heard. Or maybe that's some other game.

I  need a better computer if I want CoD3 on PC. They do have it, but the minimal specs don't come anywhere near my laptop. :(

There isn't a Cod3 for PC. We bitched to much in Cod2 because they made it a console port, low gamestate (which has been fixed in the 1.3 path) and bad optimiztion. Far Cry has the same system requirements and Far Cry on High runs better then Cod2 on low.

Who ever told you that has never played a good game before! If your computer can run the PC Far Cry, get that. If you have an Xbox, or Xbox 360, get the Far Cry's for those....but don't get Vengeance. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=751642

4 Year old, I played Excite Truck at my Cousin's house. It reminds me a lot of Burnout, in that you earn stars for doing dangerous tasks (making shortcuts through the forest by dodging trees, getting loads of  air, etc.) you have a nearly infinite supply of boost (engine may overheat though) and the crashes tend to look really cool. There's also the constant speed.

The similarities kind of end there. There are powerups scattered throughout the course, but most of them are terrain modifiers, which are cool as hell. When you hit one, the entire course shifts for your benefit, either opening up new areas or letting you get more air = more points. There's also another powerup that makes you invincible and able to use turbo unlimited while it lasts.

You get medals in races depending on how many stars you received. Like I said previously, you get stars for doing dangerous things, you can also get stars for smashing opponents, launching them into the air with a terrain modifier, and other tasks. You also get a number of stars depending on how you placed in the race.

Controller setup is like NFS Carbon, you hold it flat to the floor and then steer it like a wheel. You can also do some stunts midair too, and the angle you hold the controller at influences how your car acts in the air.

I'd give it a 9/10, a lot of fun.

Actually I did run into the shadow on the ceiling thing... but to be honest... it was be accident I saw it. Who in the name of all things holy is looking at the ceiling in a fps game as intense as CoD?

Give the developers time to explore the wii's potential, I think that they must have rushed red steel and COD and skipped out on bug fixes, the next few waves of games will have better stuff and much less buggy. Have faith, launch titles are known for sucking.

Lol. I'm trying to get a Wii because it's cheaper.
I can't wait to see the Star Wars game coming out for the Wii.
