Tropic Killing Zone
« on: January 30, 2007, 09:43:35 pm »

This is my 3rd map, I try to keep things as low-poly as possible. ;)

Download:

All graphics needed for it already come with Soldat, I don't use any custom stuff.

I liked it. Honestly I've never seen anything quite like it map-wise.
Now I'm going to go play you at it :P

Ain't that cute, two one post majors commenting on each other ;)

In any case, you may want to bump the polycount up a smidgeon. I didn't download the map, but isn't it impossible to go up that hill ? If you just boosted the max jet to get over the hill, you're going to have a problem with people hovering too far out of reach to stay alive. And get rid of that darn texture, it looks terrible.

The preferred outcome of war is peace. Ironic, huh ?

Just because we're majors doesn't mean I haven't been playing the game for 3 years.
Thanks.

Looks like there's gonna be alot of nade spamming from the giant boulder-hill...thing.

Also - 69 polygons?  Alot of the standard DM maps use around 150-180 polygons.  Some even use around 350 and still run as fine.

First off, I joined here solely to post my maps. If you wanna judge me by my post count, well... haha (not even gonna say anything here)

And as far as graphics, I don't really care how it looks as long as it's not neon green and neon pink mixed together making my eyes bleed. This map kinda reminds me of Cel-shading for whatever reason, though it isn't. I know.

I don't need maps that look photo-realistic. As a matter of fact, I'd rather they not be.

That's your opinion. Not a fact.
The map plays well to me, it's exactly as I wanted it. The steap slopes are "Ice" so you slide off them.
The jetpack wasn't boosted way up just so you could get over the hill, just a simple jump and boost and you're over it.

Wait, wait, wait.  You're telling us you don't want crits?

Then you posted in the wrong section.  This section is mainly for mapping ideas and critiques.

Yes, this is for general talk regarding improvement on maps or techniques and styles. If you're officially releasing the map this should go in the DM/HTF section.

Can a mod move this then? O_o I do want feedback, but I'm not changing anything about this.
