Hey guys, my first map as well as my first post, I've been playing soldat for a while now, and I thought i'd give mapping a try.  I got most of the inspiration from a few mappers, just looking at their material on the forums, its great stuff!

It also has a lack of scenery; not really sure what to add in, any ideas post or message me.

So please leave some constructive critisism :D

(Not waypointed)

Whoa, nice first map, man!

I love that scenery usage. Those clouds in the sky are sexy. Shading isn't bad, but kinda boring in some places since you used the same shading on each part of the outside of the map.

The water looks pretty good.

I give it a 8/10.
There are other worlds than these

With some darker shading I would love it.
You should put just some trees in the background, that'd already do it.

At all, the whole atmosphere is really cool, very great for a first map!

Wow wedding, i've never even seen that map!  Thats a pretty weird coincidence, the styles are pretty similar of the two maps.

1. Scenery is only good in the clouds, make more scenerys on the ground. Grass, boxes, yadda yadda yoo because who cares how good the sky looks if the ground looks like crap.
2. I don't like the shading. When you have three layers of polygons to shade, use a light color for the top (changes a lot due to placement) which you have, but darken it where it is underneath things. Make a general gradient to darken it as you go down the map. Under the lights it should be bright though. The second layer should be darker but reflecting the first. Black (in my opinion) doesn't work here. maybe a dark grey, or that brown but lighter? Something other than black. The third should be darker.
3. Stretch the polygons on the whole map. Its nice.
