Queen Of The Flag (QOTF) - Beta Gamemode

Here's my concept for a modification to the HTF flag mode : King of the Hill. Except I have a wicked sense of humor and distorted the name ;)

In any case the concept is the same. Both teams fight over a bunker, or rocket in this case, that is a one-way enter device i.e. once it has been 'captured' it the score persists until someone 'caputres' it again. In fact, this is so simple I'm mildly curious as to why no one's tried this yet :). Please remember that this is the beta map and wasn't made to show off my mapping skillz, so no comments on its terrible design.

Where does the flag end up? How do you get into the rocket?
It looks like a good idea...

There are one way polys when you lock someone inside with a tele pad ;) One way in, no way out . The flag ends up inside the rocket, in a little safe-ish pocket. People can still tele in and nade spam, taking out the flag carrier and stealing the flag. Thus capturing it. But thanks for the 'awesome idea' rating :)

interesting, how about making the flag area shootable outside the rocket? you could add few barrier walls to prevent campers from instantly killing the ''carrier'' inside and giving some space for the ''carrier'' in the pocket for dodging fire.

Great idea, it would be even better if making some improvements like numgun said.
I can't suggest anythng now cause I'm tired of brainstorming on some other forums :D

numgun: Mucho problemo with that, flags are treated like bullets, e.g. if I make the rocket out of "Only People Colide" polys, the flag will fly right through. Or, in an even worse case, someone passes the flag out and hides elsewhere on the map. I haven't been able to find a way around this yet, and for that reason I'm going to go upload the map now ;). Feel free to edit it all j00 want.

hm, wouldnt this get a tad boring for the people stuck in the rocket? :D
they should at least have a stat gun emplacement in the rocket to defend themself before they are entered. i guess usual KOTH would be more fun.
since i am a lazy ass, not wanting to download the PMS, can you explain how you did one way polys?

oh and the design isnt bad at all ;P

Why thank you for the comment on the design :). I can't put a stat gun in (as per the last post), but I can explain one-way polys :

I put a tele pad into a compartment in the rocket. 'Nuff said.

Couldn't you just put the flag on the bottom of the giant pit? And make the pit a lot deeper with a single, bending tunnel? That would make much more sense than a trapping one way teleporter.

I could, in theory, put the flag in the bottom of a giant pit. Obscuring the fact that you can nade jump out of a pit, blow the flag out or get spammed beyond all reason, you still have to face the fact that a pit is much less glamorous than a teleporter ;).

Or just make both teams seperately teleport inside of the pit, that way you definately, surely cant get the flag out of it. It may be less glamorous but I wouldn't like waiting inside a small box with a flag for someone to kill me.

Guess what people originally thought when looking at B2B ? "There's no way anyone can go over that. Definitely won't happen". :)

Trying real hard to keep people from exploiting maps is a real time waster, someone'll eventually find a way to get out of the hole with the flag and the game will be ruined. I prefer the cramped box system to the possible-ruined-game-hole system myself. But go ahead and try it if you'd like ;).

No, Im saying spawn each team outside of the battle sphere, and make them teleport in seperately. That way the battle only happens in the battle sphere and the flag can't come out. Maybe even making a second, smaller sphere inside that one in which the flag resides.
