blood mod (help)

ok im trying to make soldat extremely gory but when i try out the new spark it gives me blocks of blood instead of a kinda spray any ideas on how i can change or fix this so it looks right

EDIT: oh ya im using paint to do this since im still figuring the gimp out

Don't draw blocks; use the airbrush tool and multiple shades of red.
