Best Admin: jrgp, he's like the forum mom and a pet dog rolled into one.
I did try Ubuntu and didn't really like it. What versions of Linux have you used and why do you like or dislike it?
You can install it in a usb, cdr multisesion, dvd multisesion, in the hard disk(ntfs(XP) or fat32).
Gentoo linux is the best! reason: its looks very sexy

What didn't you like about it?Well, Ubuntu was pretty generic...it was a dull brown, and all the windows opened how you'd expect, and for whatever reason, I couldn't access the internet or hard drive (this was a live CD, but I've seen other versions on live CD with those features).OTOH, I saw another build (I don't recall the name) that was pretty sleek. You could have 4 different desktops (switched by rotating them around, like a cube) and the windows had all kinds of cool effects for minimizing, enlarging, moving, etc. The windows could even "stick" to the edges: you'd drag and it would deform slightly, then more, then it would separated and kind of bounce a little. It used a browser called IceWeasel, IIRC (probably just the name for the Linux version of Firefox). I guess, looking at the other ones, Ubuntu just seems kind of plain.

If you want to test linux, play with it on a live cd.Linux cannot be installed to ntfs or fat32. You must use a linux filesystem to install linux
