The M79 (not a weapons balance discussion)

For some time now, members (such as myself) have been whining about the abusage of the M79. And seing as half the replys made to these topics were by M79 users (come on...who hasn't used it?) The chances of getting any balance on it were second to none. But, as I said, this is not a Weapons Balance discussion thread this is a discussion, about what flaws you think the M79s have, and Why you like/hate them.

My problems with the M79:

Now, I like my U13 servers, and hell, nothing beats thge gameplay in most of them, but the thing that kills it after a while is the M79 abusers. M79 was the weapon I used when I first started playing this game. And today I use the Steyr and the Socom (also changes to Mp5 sometimes).
Now, what I mean by M79 abusers, is the people who jump in a game and say "I wanna piss some people off" and pick the M79. And then proceed to blow the living F**k outta everyone (including Team mates). Also, I hate the people who are so desperate for a kill, that they resort to the M79 as a sense of power. But to me, The M79 doesn't tell me that they are skilled, it tells me that they are desperate. To me (and your views may be different) a skilled person is some one to jumps into a server and picks socom, and proceeds to batter every M79 away with it. But enough about socom...

m79 in my opinion, is the 2nd funnest weapon in soldat (saw being the 1st), because who doesnt like seeing someone blow up infront of them?
Its flaws: Slow, long reload for 1 bullet, not much distance.
Advantages: 1hitkill, arc helps on maps like viet (reason the real m79 was made)

This really is becoming a broken record player...

I love the M79 and would say it's the most fun weapon, but the "bugs" of the weapon are really annoying when going against it. The M79 (and grenades) need more selfkill tweaking, as right now they can be used or thrown at point blank and not kill the user. When getting at face-to-face range, people should be turning to knives or chainsaws, but as long as M79 and grenades are plentiful, with the same advantages plus better range and hit area, there's no need to switch out.

This is the biggest problem I have with the weapon and the only thing I think needs to be addressed immediately with the next update. I don't know why more servers refuse to run weapon mods to attempt to correct this if it's such a big issue for everyone as it seems on these boards. The tools are there to fix it, add delay, etc. as desired.

I hate it when some 1337 guy on a public server who thinks he owns it calls me a n00b just because I killed him with m79 .

I use m79 and mp5  on regular servers and i use ruger or minimi on realistic (knife is my secondary ) so nobody has the right to tell me I am a n00b and then I squash him on realistic

I find that people bitch about the weapons WAY too much. You know, this is a game, if you can't adapt to the M79, then play alone with bots. People won't stop using a weapon just because you whine your ass off about it. "Oh, it's too strong" no s***, it kills in one hit, dumbass.

This topic irritates the hell outta me. You know, if you don't like a weapon, go to a server that has it disabled.

And I don't giva a rats ass what you say, but The M79 has ruined soldat. The weapons balabce crap ruined soldat. SOLDAT ISN'T FUN ANYMORE! Bring back the days of 1.2, and I'll be happy. Those Betatesters need to get thier brains working, and STOP FUCKING WITH THE GAME! fix the bugs, not the weapons balance.

I like the M79 because : 1) It is a one shot killer weapon. 2) It perfectly suits CTF action. 3) The m79 shot can reach difficult places. 4) It requires extreme concentration and skill to hit from the first encounter.

That's not weapon abuse, that is skill, anyone can do that with any weapon.

You assumed that m79 is a very easy weapon to use, and built a whole theory over this, you've gotta know something, the m79 isn't a newbie weapon, it requires great skill and concentration to accurately hit the target, and besides the m79er becomes quite vulnerable in the reload time, you can kill him with almost anything.

Again, you defined skill in your own point of view as using autos or socom, a skilled person is a person who has gained experience and has the ability to do things more accurately and faster than normal players, that's skill, in any weapon.

The M79 has unique pros and cons like any other weapon. Just because it has a 1-hit-kill ability doesn't mean it is a cheap weapon.

Bone Collector...this isn't an issue of respect.  This is an issue that has been hashed out time and time again, to little avail.

How long have you played Soldat, in order to make a claim that the m79 has ruined it?  Seems like the game has done just fine with the m79 in there all these years.

Is your game ruined because people kill you too often?

Telling people to go to hell just makes you look like a chump.  If Soldat isn't fun anymore then don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, mmkay?

P.S. - As a betatester, I'd like you to know my brain is working just fine.  I agree we need to concentrate on bug fixes, but I also think that a weapons balance has already been achieved.
