old topic lockage.
« on: March 26, 2007, 02:46:10 pm »
i don't know where to post this so yeh..help me out  ???

well, my idea was some sort of automatic-topic-loc for old topics (that have had no post in it for a long time let's say; 1-3weeks)
so people can't start posting in them for no reason / reviving these old topics, if thy want help with something, thy can just PM the creator of the topic...

[my english sucks, but i think you guys get the idea when you think a litlle bit...]

if you don't know what i mean, lok at the mod. sections and you will understand better (ihope)...allot of topicreviving in there...without a actual reason..

-Skykanden- and Laser Guy spam this topic again and its a warning.

I do like this idea but I fear it will go on Flabs infamous "to do" list.

This will not go on my infamous to-do list because I don't like locking topics just because they're old.  We don't have any major problem with necroposting, and people should still be allowed to post in old topics if they have a relevant question.

Once in a while we get someone who goes through and posts "cool" "lol" "rofl" "awesome!" etc in 60+ old topics, but that is what the banhammer is for, not some newfangled auto-lock thing.

Well could it be possible so that any replies to the topics older than 30 days have to be verified by a moderator. And after that the topic wouldn't be old anymore so people could post again...

Just the same, we don't have any real problem with necroposting.  We'll spend less time dealing with necroposting in the next 2 years or so than it would take me to install or code such a system
