The only reason Windows is used so much is because most of the populatioin doesn't know jack about computers.

Or else they would use Linux.

Typical moronic response from someone who probably knows jack about either OS's

I like Windows. Personally I think if you don't know how to maintain it, you deserve to have your computer fatally crash and clog with virii. The good (and vicious) people of the internet support my ideals by designing new worms and trojans to destroy unwitting fools. Bwahahahaha.

Besides, I have no reason to use Linux. My computer is for games, not maintaining servers.

Im not but how can you argue with a response like that, theres only one person on these forums  that I know for sure knows about Linux and the different distros and thats flies, im sure he could list every reason as to what Linux can do over mickey mouse soft. I used Linux mandrake for one week and that isnt even close to enough time to KNOW the system. So I wont put up arguements much in this thread. I only make an arguement when I 100% know what im talking about.

no matter how well you maintain it and how smart you are, it'll eventually bog down and slow to a crawl because of the shortcomings of NTFS

GO, I don't even use Linux myself, but I would take it over Windows anyday.

I guess windows ftw.

Reason:
I used it all my life, so changing now would be like changing your favorite team, thats just insane.

I guess Linux runs alot better than xp, and is great for server use. But I'm not running any servers, but I  do want to have a system that is compatible with lots of programs, like games, and I like games, and I like to have lots of games. And thats why i have windows, you see?

Why it's rotten:
Its not harder, faster, stronger, better than other systems.
I'm away.

Well I have windows and linux, and I voted for windows.
1) Most games aren't compatible (even though their are some good ones for linux) but the thing is i'm used to the games I play on windows.
2) Windows loads as fast as linux even though it has to load up X-fire and an anti-virus and firewall
3) The only thing linux could which windows can't is the ability to view porn without any concern of getting any virus <.< (even though in windows if you have a good enough anti-virus, anti-adware/spyware you have nothing to worry about)

And linux is not as common as windows is not because people don't know how to use it (to learn how to execute stuff and using the repository, etc only took about 20 mins because of all the documentation)
the problem is that (apart from not being as well known) their is no need to switch to linux, because everything there is on linux can be found on windows
and to me windows is as stable as linux because it never crashed (unless my sister uses it but she is dumber than a rock)
The only people that can get an advantage by using linux are server owners (and maybe people who want porn ;p)

Anything other then windows. Hell, id even boot off an os that was made in qbasic (yet that's still in microsh!t)

BTW that qbasic os is real, but requires kernel32 to run :/ (i think its called gimi)

i voted linux, why? well because i've used feroda core and it was pretty good, in the time i used it, i recieved NO viruses, yet windows destroys itself by its faults.

Oh ffs shut the hell up already, everyone has windows for a reason, im sure dells crappy ass comps that they sell could be a lot cheaper if they just distributed linux with em all or any other computer company. Bottem line Windows is the best for multimedia needs have fun playing a simple as a game like Soldat on Linux let alone any others. Linux is a good OS from what I have heard from few knowledgable users and those same users use it for different purposes.

Pffft, dell could be saving more money if the used AMD processors also......but dell loves intel.......because there gay

I think it is called business, not love. I don't think Dell cares about selling their comps cheaper if they have to switch to Linux.

Windows does everything I need it to.  My computer's performance is perfectly fine, Windows Defender actively prevents malware from infecting it, and then there's the fact that I primarily use my computer for media and games.  It also doesn't hurt that I'm familiar with the interface, since I've used Windows since 3.1.

I'm sure Linux has plenty of strengths, but none of them are relevant to my purposes.

The most I've worked with (the more recent) Macs would be in three semesters in high school: the first two in Commercial Design I and II, and the third as a teacher's aide in Commercial Design III.  Those computers were sluggish at times (sometimes it'd take 10 minutes just to get to the login screen), and had a tendency to randomly kick you out of whatever program you were in without warning (just an error message that provides no information or support whatsoever).  It's entirely possible that the school's incompetent IT guy was to blame--he once blamed a dying monitor on Runescape, for example--but it doesn't change the fact that I don't really look at Macs too fondly nowadays...

I can't really say anything about the older Macs, though, since I was in the 3rd(?)-6th grades back then; as such, all the computers had that more kid-friendly interface, and the actual OS was only accessable by teachers and other staff.  Before the elementary school's computer lab had the Macs, we used Apple computers with external floppy drives--and I mean the big, black, actually-floppy floppies.

I'm getting tired of windows. Its so bloated and I've had many BSODs and I've had to completely reformat this comp once just cause the system got slow as hell. And today the "windows genuine advantage" installed itself, and really annoyed me (I removed it and turned off automatic updates).
I'm seriously considering switching to another OS , but if it can't run the things I want then there's not much point...
Damn why can't someone recode windows without all the crap :P

Of course. It's obviously not an infoulable system by any means.. but by the time that happens the technology will be so outdated anyway I will have a new computer.
This one so far has lasted me two and a half full years with no crashes, no slowdowns, no mysterious freezes, no "blue screens" etc.
