Help: With a (non-dedicated) Server
« on: April 12, 2007, 05:20:11 am »
First of, this is my first post so i hope it's in the right section.

Query:  I am attempting to play a game over the internet (with a few friends).  I started a game, with it set to Internet and ticked to register.  However the server refuses to appear in the server selection screen.

Secondly I attempted to find the IP address my friends could use to connect to my game using 'whatismyipadress.com' and they couldn't connect using this IP adress.

However lan does work so...

The golden question is: how on earth do i start a game that others can connect to over the internet?

 - BTW i did try searching, with no results.   ;)

You need to forward ports via your router.

The wiki has a decent article on port forwarding.

A general suggestion:  don't run a Soldat server on the Internet with the non-dedicated server.  If you're going to play with them more than a few times, learn how to set up your own dedicated server.
