I feel like every day I repeat this to every person who talks about Vista, Microsoft is probably pulling a Windows ME, remember how god-awful that was? In a year they came out with XP, remember how kickass that was is? The fix will probably not come in service pack form, but in a nice new cd for you to reformat to.

at the moment ive got a ARCHOS and i'm pretty satisfied with it...

It's not so lovely that microsoft got it's position by basing their OS on others', and how they fought so hard to standardize that horrible IE which today nor for the nearest years won't be close to comply with 8 year old standards. They're halting progress.

Anyhoo, my friends store their media on their mobiles, though I prefered a Vision M for the better sound and storage space.
iPod wasn't an option since it doesn't support drag-and-drop, browsing style. You'd need iTunes for transfering files, which seems like a redundant app when I prefer winamp, and I dislike how it runs two background processes that can't be deactivated easily.
And a zune? Pwease, I don't plan on buying 30 GB worth of music.

Obvious you haven't done any research on zune. Go look it up some and you will realize that only morons buy zunes. Also you can get a better mp3 players then an Ipod for cheaper. Again... do your research.

I just purchased an MPIO Solid like a week ago. Plays movies and jazz, 8 gigs. Does the job, does it well. It's really cheap compared to the Ipod. 180&$ for 8 gigs and movies. It's a good deal, but you can't put full movies on it. Not that I would want to watch full movies on it. I have a lot of music videos on it and youtube videos.
