1.4 implementation:

One of the things I liked about the earlier versions of soldat was the simplicity of the game itself and the ability to use very complicated tactics.

Now with huge ugly text and way oversized killkeeping thing on the top right and big eccentric bullets and also a minimap, i can barely concentrate on what I am doing just because my screen is taken up by so much useless information.

I think this one of the worst versions ever. I have mixed feelings about it. I am both disappointed in the hitreg "fix" and in an uncontrollable rage. this is right behind 1.3, even though 1.3.1 wasn't that great anyway.

Few things for you to ponder over...

What is a benefit to 1.4

What is a detriment to 1.4

Is 1.4 a benefit or a detriment to the glory of soldat?

You can change the size of the text. Check in the Txt folder.

This thread is detrimental to the forums. 
IMO bitching like this will just irritate MM.  You don't wanna do that.  Be assertive, but respectful at the same time.  This just sounds rude.

I don't see any new players bothering to look into that. Sure I could change mine, but it would turn off a whole mess of players.

you wouldn't know a damn thing about it, but MM had said he liked to hear critizism because if there was nothing wrong, he would have nothing left to do with soldat.

Really, the deathlog style now is really bad. I really really don't like that.

Those "Flying laser dildos" as bullets are also not great. I know I can change them.

The new balance is also pretty suspective to me.


I am really disappointed, too.

4yo, you can also change the length of the killconsole too, check in the soldat.txt file.
Should be something similar to Kill_Console_Length=12.
I think 12 is the default, Ive always changed it to 4.

Soldat 1.4 is a huge update to Soldat.  It has some pretty big problems but once they're fixed we'll all be better off.  This isn't anything new.  Past versions of Soldat that made changes this big had problems too... and they all got fixed.

Please be patient and do what you can to help people and yourselves.  Complaining does less good than being quiet.   Being quiet does less good than helping someone solve a problem you know how to fix. 

If you have any additional information on problems posted in the forums or problems that haven't been reported, please help add to them.

More moddability :D  - recoil allows me to create a difference between rayguns and slug throwes.
Soldat Mod Starter - it allows to play many different mods without having a lot of shortcuts on desktop.

What is a detriment to 1.4
Dildo bullets - I already modded them out - when one plays on realistic they look horribly out of place.
Still not enough moddability :P .
