Problems with Soldat 1.4.0
« on: May 04, 2007, 09:38:50 am »
I have a few problems with the new Soldat version 1.4.0.

Now to the problems.
I installed Soldat 1.4.0 without any errors or problems.
Than I overwrite the soldat.ini with my older one fron 1.3.1 to have the colors of my person.

The first problem is that I cannot join a game.
If I request the servers, theres no problem.
But than, when I choose a server and klick on 'Join Game' it connects and connects and finally I don't join the game.

The second problem is that I cannot create a own game.(Start Game)
I can set up all options, but than if I click on 'Start Game', there came the error messages I've post as jpg files.
First the Error Message 1 and than 2.

Information that I found to error message 1:
Acces Violation.
I think that has something do with this, becuase the only difference is the number/letters at the end.
In my case it's FFFFFFFF. And there it's 00000000.

>1. Never cheat, or attempt to cheat - it's the most common cause of this problem.
I don't cheat or attempt it.

>2. Do not use 'Reg. Cracks' On Soldat.
I'm not registered in version 1.4.0 and I also don't use a Reg. Crack.

>3. Uninstall Soldat.
I've done this more than one time.

>4. Delete the Soldat folder to remove any leftover files.
I've done this more than one time.

>5. Restart your computer.
I've done this more than one time.

>6. Install the latest version of Soldat.
I've done this more than one time.

>7. a) For Windows NT/2000/XP: Delete the file cmodule.dll in the 'Windows\system32' folder
I've Win98.

>    b) For Windows 95/98/ME: Delete the file cmodule.dll in the 'Windows\system' folder.
I couldn't find this file. Also one called CModule.dll.
And I'm not sure if this is the same.

>8. Delete the file dxlog.chk in the 'Windows' folder
I also couldn't found this file.

Information that I found to error message 2:
Also Access vioaltion but I only find the information, that I have written in 1.

After this two error messages I can klick OK on the second, but then the error message appears again.
So I have to restart my computer.

Error Message 1:

Error Message 2:

Thx for any help.

did you overwrite the whole file or just edit the 1.4 soldat.ini to have your old settings?

Ok here'S the solutio.

You have to setup Soldat like this:
This configuration is in the language English!!

Graphics:
Fullscreen -> checked
Dithering -> not checked
Antialasing -> not checked
Windowed mode resize % -> 0
Video Adapters -> Your Video Adapter (what else?)
Bitrate -> 16
Refesh rate -> default
Resolution -> 640x480

Sound:
Sound Quality -> Normal
Sound Output Type -> Primary Sounddriver*
Sond Driver List -> Direct Sound*

Performance:
Particles on Screen -> Maximum (defaukt)
Bot Seeing Quality -> Great
Render bullet trails -> checked
Render weather effects -> checked
Render smooth polygons -> checked
Show Death Console -> checked
File logging -> not checked
Auto record -> not checked

Network:
Internet connection speed -> Your internet connection speed
Game port (default 23073) -> 23073
Max player ping (ms) -> 1000*
Server greetings message (max 50 chars) -> If it bleeds we can kill it*
Server link (web page address or admins e-mail - max. 60 chars) -> *
Never forward clients (firewall with open ports) -> not checked
Register server with All-Seeing-Eye (ASE) -> checked

More:
Troubleshootin -> Video Compatibility
Backbuffer Count -> 2
Texture Filters -> Linear (default)
Resolution filters -> Point
Play Intro -> *
Clanamtch (team colors are based on first player in team) -> *
Automatically tkae screenshots of final game score -> *

Language:
Lannguage -> Decide on your own, in waht language the game should be

* You can decide what you write their or what is checked

The only problem that now is, is that one font is very small so it's hard to read it,
but I think that this problem isn't very important and nobody needs by the mean this font in normal size.

Have Fun!!  :)
