[Movie] small question so help please!

Yo...i need help!
Im going to creat very nice movie about my clan, but i dont know what program is good to ad some effects to demos recorded by fraps. I know that Windows Movie Maker is good, but i need better program. I saw many posts about movies, so i think here is many guys who know what program is good to edit my movie and add effects etc.
Please help, give me the names of programs if you can guys ;] (freevare plz)

hmm.. programs like adobe after effects and Sony vegas is good, but I dont know about any freeware ones.
