Running a Server that is 24/7
« on: May 29, 2007, 02:43:23 pm »
I host my Soldat server every now and then.  But I don't want to have the trouble of hosting it myself.  I'm asking how do you make it permanent or 24/7?

...

Maybe by renting a server from a Soldat server host? There's U13, EnEsCe, Selfkill, Base52, Clanplanet, ... pick and choose.

If you host it by yourself you don't need to pay the monthly fee. But if you rent a server, you must pay some money for it ( just if you didn't know it )  ;)

Thanks for answering my question.  I'll go and check for hosts that are cheap that are worthwhile to host a my server.

If you leave an operating system running for that long, chances are it'll overheat and eventually die out.

Only if you got some very, very, very ****ty cooling. And if it'd overheat or in any way break it's a rather immediate process. Plus, what matters is if the machine is running... not really O/S related at all.
