CTF-Desert_Assault
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:11:21 pm »
It's my first map and it's pretty sweet. I will eventually put some shaders in it...
Because am writting this message on a mac at my school, and I made the map on a PC (it's logical) I can't put images.

Hope you enjoy!:D

By the way, the big mountain of sand in the middle is to prevent sniper cheating kills....And you start ....IN THE AIR WITH A PARACHUTE! YEY! ......it makes it more realistic...

But try it, you wont be decipointed.

ps: I don't really know how to make shadows. so theire aren't any for now.

For the download, go see the reply of Blacksheepboy .
He compiled it for me.

Overview would be nice as not all forum members have time for playing maps. (I don't have time for it, visiting forums from time to time just to see what's going on.)

Yeah, reading the forum rules is pretty common and appreciated thing.
I'll maybe dare to download it if I see a picture of it.

That's great. It isn't compiled correctly... Well, no harm done. I'll just compile it for you. If someone else would be kind enough to explain how to compile a map..?

Would suggest to shade the map some bit. What kind of mapmaker are you using currently? If it isnt Polyworks, try to get it on soldat.pl ;)

You can get guides how to waypoint a map in the bot section of the forum, there are good guides leading you into it :)

The polygons at the bottom of the map don't need to extend that low; just out of player vision is enough, as large polygons might lag unnecessarily.

The map is very flat. Spawning from the top is a really interesting idea (might I suggest even scattering both team's spawn zones equally throughout the air to make it even more hectic? :)), but the map lacks color to support the gameplay; the sky seems a bit bright itself, and even a landscape like that could have interesting shading instead of flat white all the way for its polygons. You could, for example, turn the sand green around where the tree is (but a swamp tree? Why not a cactus?). The clouds themselves could have differing opacity and slight variation in color. Aesthetics are important to always work on in a map, and this has potential for much more.
