Role-playing over the internet
« on: June 13, 2007, 04:13:02 pm »
Now I don't mean computer RPG games on the internet or anything, but a place where you can participate in pen and paper role plays. It could use a CAG program or something, but I guess it could be just an IRC channel or a forum.

Does anyone know?

On a forum that I go to, there is an entire section dedicated to user started RPs.

It is by no means a bad idea.

There are hundreds of them online, thousands even.

Sure, an IRC channel would work. MUDs FTW.

A mud is a "Multiple user dungeon/dimension"

Muds really are neat, I played one for about a month, but I got lost in a forest while playing and after about an hour of walking around I still couldn't get out... that was the last time I ever played a mud.

Really all you gotta do is google Mud. Tons of them out there, they are all kinda the same to me though so I couldn't tell you what is best.

No, no. You're missing my point. MUDs are computer games. What I'm looking for is something that's almost entirely led by a human. What 4 proposed, I already saw, and it looked bad.

He means text chat based rpgs....

Which in my opinion are the lamest thing ever

Bad Example:

Fluffy: Fluffy hits mxyzptlk with a stick
mxyzptlk: Ouch!
mxyzptlk: mxyzptlk hits Fluffy back with a rock
Fluffy: Fluffy throws turtles at mxyzptlk

Whatever. I should've known that these forums are the last thing you should go for help.
