mouse-hover identifying
« on: July 01, 2006, 03:02:20 pm »
This ability would lead to many practical purposes.  The idea is simple - you hover your mouse over a player and with an alt + [something] push, you get a bunch of options all refering to the player over whom your crosshair is hovering.  ie:  you want to kick somebody (maybe cuz he's afk or he tk's) you put your mouse over him and hit alt + [something] and click the 'kick' icon and the votebox would come up allowing you to type your reason.  You want to mute somebody?  same deal.
Useful for:
regular:  vote kicking, muting, whispering
admin:  kicking, banning, killing, unbanning
etc.

comments/suggestions - as well as other purposes besides those listed would be nice!
Can't think of anything original to put here...

except getting player slot number is 5x as easy.
And what if they are moving?

How would you unban them if you have to hover over their gostek?

I think this would be too annoying to use due to the fact that Soldat is a relatively quickly-paced game, and hovering over someone is much easier said than done

Players moving would make it pointless, it would only be good for selecting afk guys.

I would memorize what they are wearing to figure out who's who.

Or maybe if you press the backspace key, then it brings up a menu for the soldat nearest to your cursor?

this sounds like it would be more irritating than useful, and not very simple...

so if i didnt want to get kicked i would just backflip, roll, and skip nonstop so i cant get hovered.
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

It'd be much easier if you could select players in the F1 list...

I agree with FLAB, Soldat is too fast to waste time doing that, it's easier just hitting "Esc" and doing it that way; or just using Team Chat rather than whispering as you suggested.

Agreed. Wouldnt that be a lot easier?

Another usage for that: there are a lot of people playing with ridiculously long names. So, when you press T and open the chat line, then select the persons name from the F1 menu, it will be automaticly copyied into your chat-line.  :D

no, NO, NOOOO

The soldat's move too fast to hover on them long enough.

Too complicated.

People would start vote kicking more.

this sounds like a game in a game

I'm not voting for it though, its just stupid, a user is gonna run around and admin will hop after like a shadow...
