Server
« on: June 29, 2007, 07:23:33 pm »
So, I physically have a server. As in a server sitting by me. My dad used it at work. It crashed, I fixed it, and he let me have it. It's running Windows Server 2003. Do I run a dedicated server as if it were just a regular computer?

Get the Soldat dedicated server software from http://soldat.pl/down-s.html

Don't try running a server using the one built into the Soldat client.  Perhaps install Linux on there and take a look around, it is the best way to learn.

How do I get Linux? I looked it up on Google, but the official website is ultra confusing.

Also, if I have the dedicated server running in my room, and I'm playing on the main house computer, will the IP be the same for both computers. Both the server and computer are running of the same modem.

They will have the same external IP, but a different internal IP; you'll need to forward ports so that the server gets game requests and such.

Thanks for the DL. Do you have a page on forwarding ports?
