Kit editing
« on: August 10, 2007, 02:07:52 pm »
I'm making a Half-Life 2 modification for soldat, and i just wanted to know, how do i change the look of the kits?

Everything else is ok.

Just...the Vest kit, for example. I'd like to turn it into a HEV battery.

So how does this work?

Thanks in advance:)

Sorry for doubleposting, but speaking of kits, how do i change the text the game gives you, when you pick a kit up?

Nono.
I meant the text itself.:)
Like from Bulletproof Vest to Power battery of something?

.. Okay, let me explain that a bit better then.

Copy english.ini and english.txt in that directory and rename them foobar.ini and foobar.txt (as you probably understand, use a name that'll relate to your mod somehow instead).

Then open up foobar.txt, and in that you're able to find and edit:

Flame God Mode!
Predator Mode!
Bulletproof Vest!
Berserker Mode!
Cluster grenades!

K, copy to WHERE?
And i tried editing the 2 files in Languages and just saving the changes.
That didn't work either.

Just copy them into the same directory, Soldat\Txt\Languages.

Then to actually load the language you need to load it via the Soldat setup program. Go to the language tab, pick your custom language file in the list, and click OK to load it.

Alternatively you can make a txt folder in your mod directory (is probably more sensible in my opinion)

lets say you're making your mod in Soldat/Mods/HL2/

copy your Soldat/Txt folder to Soldat/Mods/HL2 to make Soldat/Mods/HL2/Txt

then edit the default.txt in notepad and find the line used for each pickup (use ctrl+f to use the find and replace feature)
