Quick Review:
X contains all necessary genes as well as information about the female reproductive system.
Y contains all information about the male reproductive system. (males are an "upgrade" of females, more complex)
XX = Female
XY = Male
All human zygotes (life forms) start with female parts (ovaries, nipples, etc.), with information only from the X chromosome. At some point, information is read from the Y chromosome (if it's there) and the zygote develops male parts (ovaries become testes, etc. It's science, stop laughing at the words).
Wikipedia article which may help.

Yes, most genetic modifications deal with changing the DNA sequence of genes, the actual A-T-G-C stuff.
And yes, as far as I know, it's hard to change genders of fertilized eggs.

Nah, it's okay, we're more susceptible to bad genes on the X chromosome.

I believe that there is a certain type of genetic aristocracy in existence which plays a crucial role in social hierarchy.

Think of it this way: the United States government is an aristocracy because money is a requirement for political office. However, the circumstances are such that any citizen has the ability to bring him- or herself into said aristocracy by coming across a large amount of money one way or another. That is stated with tiny details aside.

Genetics work the same way in my mind. Just like there are those who are born into wealth, there are those who are born with quite the arsenal of positive genes. Most people have the opportunity to introduce themselves into this aristocracy through physical activity, proper diet, etc. Inversely, those who are born with proper genes may rely on them too much and end up an unfit waste of space. My belief is that genetic modification would disrupt this idea of "genetic hierarchy." Although it sounds immoral, we should not disturb the fact that some of us are born with handicaps and some of us are not.

Although it can be argued that diseases which spurt from birth are a component of population control, I can see how it is considered moral to alter genes in order to rid a newborn of any physical or mental diseases.

xtishereb, i thought that all humans are born female, ie 2Y choromosomes and later during development they can turn into a male.
Thats why men have nipples!
I had a vagina?! I feel less manly now...

I believe  it's wrong, the fetus should just take it's natural course.

Men's nipples aren't a direct result from being born female and then later changing sex but still keeping the nipples. Instead it's been thought that when we were cavemen and whatnot, men had breasts too because conditions were worse back then so it would be beneficial to the species incase the mother died.
