My pc is now dual booting xp and ubuntu linux.

I mostly just use linux and would LOVE a map maker for linux.

Have you tried running the official Map Maker under Wine or Cedega? It uses DirectX for rendering the map, so it probably wont happen.

Yo im thinking both registering ubuntu. Does it like delete ANYTHING from ur PC or can u like have a button that like says "start linux"

rofl, Linux uses a completely different File System to windows, you would need to create a whole new partition for it or get a 2nd hard drive for it. You cannot just click "start linux", you have to choose WINDOWS or LINUX at bootup, or use an emulation program to run linux in windows, but then DirectX in an emulated linux = die.

You can install Linux and Windows at on the same machine. I was going to write up the steps, but before I even started I realized that you probably don't know how to partition your physical disk correctly. So, here is an decent walkthrough:

Get yourself a LIVE CD, you boot the PC with it in the drive and Linux is loaded in the memory. You can test and play with it without installing and risking loosing Windows and your data. When you're finished you just take the CD out of the drive and reset your computer... and it will load Windows.

It's the easiest way to familiriaze yourself with Linux.
The only problem is that since it runs on the PCs memory when you turn it off you loose all files you created/downloaded and all customized settings you may have made.

its better in my opinion. if your going to use a live cd, download xubuntu since xfce uses less memory than ubunu or kubuntu. possibly someone could convert the delphi code to c/c++ and change directx to opengl. it would be a start.
