Guitar Hero and XBOX360
« on: August 17, 2007, 09:27:42 pm »
Who here has played this ridiculously awesome game? For those that don't know what it is:

GH1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero
GH2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_II
GH80's: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_Encore:_Rocks_the_80s
GH3: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_III:_Legends_of_Rock

GH3 will be awesome, just look at the setlist.

By the way, anyone here really good at the game? I personally rape all ass at it (currently somewhere between #6 and #20 in the world for Xbox 360), here is my stats for some songs (Click on the numbers for a screenshot):

http://www.scorehero.com/scores.php?user=28851&game=3&diff=4

Also, does anyone here have a 360? Post your Gamertag if you do, and what games you have.

GT: COLDBEARD
Games: GH2, Gears of War, Lost Planet, GRAW2, Fight Night 3

I played GH and GH2 on PS2 with my buds. It was fun for a while. But Freebird is only cool for so long, and then we started playing Gears and Lost Planet. :P

I swear, some of the crap on Expert would probably be easier to learn on an actual guitar. I'm not gonna pick up GH3, someone else will have it and I'll play it at their house.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

xkcd: Music Knowledge

I played some GH2, demos and at friend's houses, but mainly I've been playing Frets On Fire, which was mentioned here before. It's still possible to feel badass while mashing F1-5 and Enter.
Does anybody know if there'll be a Freezepop / Symbion Project song in GH3, even though Harmonix isn't developing it? 'Cause "Get Ready 2 Rokk" and "Less Talk More Rokk" are awesome.

I have GH2 on the PS2, but I'm not that good. Heck, I'm stuck on 'Woman' at Expert difficulty, though I've beaten Hard and schooled Medium and Easy.

Took me about a year to get good, I started playing since GH1 first came out. However, some people can play on expert after like, 2 weeks. Thats insane.

To me Guitar hero is the same thing as ddr, there isn't a whole lot of skill in either game, just learning some kind of coordination and rhythm. Would make a great party game though.

Vid of Through the Fire and Flames: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV0qM6-HLuk

That song is going to be in GH3 (He's using the PC version, he can modify his songs), only with the real note chart. The one in that video is made by himself, so it is not 100%, although it's more accurate than another one some other guy made.

If you can beat Trogdor (GH2) on expert with above 90% accuracy, you deserve a klondike bar.

The real version is going to be about 20x harder than that one.

However, some people can play on expert after like, 2 weeks. Thats insane.

That was me right there. I started out on Medium in Guitar Hero 1 and quickly built up to Expert. My advice: always try beating your favorite songs on a difficulty which you don't believe you'll survive through. And keep trying until you beat it.

I'm not uber-awesome at the game. For example, I have to say, Mancer, those stats are very impressive. I can beat every song in both games on Expert except for Jordan. I always fail at about 63% or so. Maybe that'll give you a good idea of where I stand.

Killroy, Trogdor is really not that hard at all. Whoever filmed that video apparently isn't very good at hammer-ons and pull-offs, too, because he screwed up the solo.

Also, here's the actual Guitar Hero III version of Through the Fire and Flames. It's going to be absolutely amazing.

I started on hard and picked up expert two days after. Still haven't completed expert, 3 songs away. Just cause I could pick it up, ain't mean I'm good at it. Though I see improvements.

Hoy kaz long time no see. Yeah most people cant pass jordan, so don't feel bad about that.

(The trick to beating it isnt very hard to understand. Pretty much, try and get to solo b with your meter in the green, with FULL star power. If your in the yellow when you start B you will probably fail, so get good at solo a. Anyway, once B starts, use only 2 fingers, YES, 2 fingers, going back and fourth up and down the guitar neck while strumming about as fast as misirlou or a little slower. Just put your 2 fingers where you see color comming. Try and survive B as LONG AS POSSIBLE before activating star power and it should ride out intil the middle of solo c. I dont have much advice for solo C, but good luck.)

Of course I dont even need star power to beat jordan anymore :)

I think my proudest achievement though is 100%ing Carry Me Home and Seventeen. For Seventeen, I was the 7th person in the entire world to do it. That makes me feel happy.
