The major killer for this weapon is lag.  It's got a lot of power to shred through enemies fast, but because it's pumping out so many bullets a vast amount just aren't registering on the enemy, even when they hit.  You'll notice that in any close range situation though, it kills very quickly.

I personally don't see any real solution to make this a suitable and usable gun.  I think it will always be a last rush boosting gun to try to cap the flag in the last few seconds of a match.

In the current version this weapon is as good as its going to be.  It has its uses now which is more than i can say for before...
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

It is indeed a very usable gun, but like he says, it is horrible with the lag that occurs. I've loaded people with at least 50 bullets straight to their face and they still kill me first. It's lag that for some reason kills this gun.

Minigun can be very effective. Like Owls said, when it's close range...just dive into your enemy like your trying to break him in two while shooting.

The minigun needs de-nerfing. We have a gun which can blow a car up with 10 or so shots in real life but in-game you can put an entire clip into an enemy and if a few shots miss he won't die.
I'd lower the firing rate, decrease the bink (completely useless in realistic), increase the speed.

Decrease the bink
Increase the damage to 56-58

I really doubt that the Minigun needs more power. 10 direct shots at around 100m will get the job done. The trick is just controlling your bursts. Not to mention, it's a serious pain in the arse to snipers everwhere, and just about as annoying to everyone else. Why power up a gun that can shred a player in just a second? Leave it as it is.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

It dont. It needs less startup time. If it had less start up time it would be perfect.

Indeed. Recoil is high but you can counter it ;)

@Kryp -- go buy some skills. use /command to bring up the commands.

Or the thing that is suggested a lot could be added: spindown pickup.

Basically, there would be a spindown time during which, if you started firing again, the spin-up would be shorter.

Or, make it like a portable turret, and make it so that you hafta crouch, like the LAW, to fire.

Erm, how would that help? The minigun is UNDER-POWERED, not OVER-POWERED!

Aha, no.

Aha, no.
Well, it is more weak than it is strong.
In skilled hands (by skilled hands, I mean someone who has trained night and day with it) it can do well, but it will take months of practice as opposed to the rugers scant weeks.

I meant that the "cripple" of crouching, we can increase the damage.

With the abnormally long reload and the long start up time you think that something big is gonna come out of that gun. But no. It just a bunch of disappointing, weak bullets.
