Sound problem.
« on: August 10, 2007, 05:37:53 pm »
The subject is the same...i'm making a HL2 mod, as can be read from my other post.

But now i got this weird problem.
Im making the Law into a Singularity cannon.
So obviously i would use the Strider's cannon charge sound.

For some reason, the sound file "law-start2" interferes with my crossbow(barret) firing sound. But it's not with only this sound, as i found out.

Both of these weapons have a startuptime.
And when i hold down my mouse button to fire the crossbow, just before it fires, "law-start" starts playing.
I'ts like the crossbow charges up or something and it's annoying. :-\

Yes, unfortunately the startup sound of the law was added to the barret in 1.4 (much to my dismay)

you can try begging MM to change it back to how it originally was or to make seperate files for the startup sounds.

Hm... that's a really weird bug. So, basically, the Barrett's delay makes the new LAW sound right before you fire it? Yeah, it could be either because the LAW was given a delay, the Barrett was given a delay (more recently), or some combination of both :P How odd...

It's no glitch... prior to 1.4 the barret didn't have a startup sound... now it's adopted the law startup sound.

MM simply changed it that way.

You can try taking the startup delay off of the crossbow/barrett and see if that helps..

Tried that, but it still plays  the sound, when you hold down the fire button.

But i changed my weapons a bit, so theres no more problem. [retard]

Really? I had a similar situation with the mod I'm currently working on.. but just by setting startup time to 0 on the barrett makes it not play the sound.. of course it also means no delay..

I think it still plays the sound if you hold down "fire", even after the sniper has fired already.

Nope, when startup delay is set to 0 it means that the sound isn't played.

Try opening your weapons.cfg and changing the line under [Barret M82A1] for startup time to..

StartUpTime=0

it will shoot as soon as you press the trigger and the startup sound will not play at all.

I know that, but i think it still does, when you hold down the mouse button, EVEN if the sniper has already made the shot.

law-end ?

Maybe if start sound is played so end can be played too (also you can't set to don't play end sound) you would have to make it clear.

Ofcourse i can always edit the Law-end file to have no sound at all.
It's pointless anyway:D
