Myst V: End of Ages - One Day
« on: September 03, 2007, 08:21:58 pm »
I always wanted to try any of the myst games. So I finally did it, beat the game in 1 day. Only one puzzle actually satisfied me. I think that one alone too me 2 hours. Over all it was disappointing.

Any one know of any better mind games? Something that would be challenging?

Just like the rubrics cube. The pattern never changes. I like being forced to adapt or change.

you can always become a doctor, its like a game where you have to put the organs in the right place, and not try to mess up.

Chess needs nothing...still the best game ever.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

Try Myst 2 (Riven) or MAYBE the third one (Exile), although I'm pretty sure Riven is much more difficult. Riven has the myst-style controls, whereas Exile uses a full 3D panorama system (which looks beautiful by the way), although that probably won't matter to you. The Myst games have gone to shit ever since they started using realtime 3D environments in the fourth one.

I remember playing Riven as a seven/eight year old, about when it was first released. I had no idea what to do at the time, and didn't get very far, but the environment captivated me, way more than the new ones try to, at least. I drew some of the architecture, day after day, because I thought it was so amazing.

In my opinion, the first Myst is the best. I have one of the sequels and it didn't impress me much.

The first myst can be bought off ebay very cheaply, runs on anything over Windows 3.1, and is very fun and challenging.
There are other worlds than these

I really don't like the old navigation style but if the puzzles are worth it then I'll look into it.
