See, I tried it before and it got all messed up with just one space back in 1.3.1, some kind of anti-mod.

Yup, it's possible now. I tried it out and now I can 'frag' instead of 'kill' without it saying
"Very inaccurate while moving or under fire. Hold down button to shoot. Major" every time I kill someone.

It's quite possible, place the changed default.txt file in the corresponding Mods folder and it will load when you launch the mod.
I've also successfully cooked up a PG version of the default english text ever since the latest version of the text came out. It also has some other changes, i.e. "Server is full. Try again later."

.. as far as I know you've been able to edit default.txt since 1.3.0 ... possibly earlier...

all it requires is that you don't add or subtract any lines of text, otherwise every line of text will be thrown out of order.

You COULD edit it before, but if you messed up the format by even one letter all the text in the game got screwed up.
