Allow for custom resolution settings
« on: September 24, 2007, 07:30:59 pm »
One of the main reasons for me buying soldat (aside from having played it since high school, and still loving it)  was to be able to use a custom resolution, but after registering, I discovered there are only a handful of resolutions to choose from. I run my pc on a 65" widescreen TV at 1248X688 (due to overscan which is present in any tube TV... not so much for monitors). I know in some of the more current games (C&C generals, oblivion, etc...) you can set the resolution to whatever your monitor is set to, and I just think it would be awesome to run soldat in true full screen instead of having big black bars on all sides.

Anyways, i dont have this problem because i run in 800 x 600, but it has my vote, just incase i do get a new monitor or huge tv :D

We've been over this many many times. Because of the way Soldat works, it has to be a 4:3 resolution, or else you get an advantage of about 100 pixels. I know, it's small, but many many people will complain, and thus the only solution is to have black bars on the side, to stop Soldat from going all distorted.

Sorry, mate.

I was under the impression that Soldat always stretched to fit fullscreen... I know mine does. If yours doesn't, maybe there's an option to stretch fullscreen apps in your video settings.

I can stretch to full screen, but if I do, it will clip off the top, bottom, and a little off both sides because of the overscan. With soldat formatted to be 1024x768, my top and bottom get cutoff, and my sides are still not filled. It's to the point where on the menus, I have to guess where the tabs are because they are beyond the screen if I run in stretched full screen. Even if custom resolution for widescreen only stretches the pixels wider instead of adding more pixels, that would be fine with me. I just would like to have the option to have it stretched to fit my screen. Currently, I'm running at 800x600 with no resize so I can see the whole picture, but I get alot of black on all 4 sides.
