HALO 3!

If I was to get a console shooter for online play I would get gears of war. That is a fun game. Halo was "meh" when I played it.

My major beef with Halo is the weapons. None of them are really imaginative- and they don't make much sense, either. A pistol with a scope that has longer range and higher power than a rifle? Rotating double barreled rocket launcher with no exoskeletal assistance? Battle rifle with only a 3 round burst mode, yet it has a scope. Dual wielding? Um, that's been around forever. And the famed energy blade- I prefer the Lightsaber.

The designs themselves are also rather boring. Only interesting one as far as I'm concerned is the flamethrower. It looks like a motorcycle. That shoots flames.  Fuel rod gun is cool too.

I will say though, that the music is really good. The gameplay itself is fun for a while, but gets boring quickly if you've ever played an FPS with an actual plot. Like F.E.A.R. Or Half-Life.

I admit I've only ever played the first game, and watched others playing the second one, and seen only bits of the third online. I got the first assuming "omg this is gonna be amazing." And soonafter I was bored completely out of my skull. I turned to multiplayer, which got old pretty quick. Then I uninstalled it and never touched it again. It's just alright. It's not zomg amazing.

the point is to someone who has never played another shooter Halo is a gift from the gods, to a lot of other people it is really really bland. Not saying this goes for everyone, but 95% of the people I know.

That seems an arbitrary statistic, but that about sums it up. If you've ever played a good FPS before, other than the original Doom, maybe, you're more likely to see Halo as the vapid experience it is.

Shields have been done before, the fact that it recharged was a little contrived, and the way flesh/shield was affected was, I thought, rather irritating.

Yes, similar to how, in Mechwarrior, Reflective armor is more resistant to energy weapons, while Reactive armor is more resistant to ballistic weapons. In Mechwarrior, you can mount a ton of weapons, ballistic and energy, so you can effectively deal with someone else with that kind of armor.

In Halo you have 2 weapons. While I applaud that realistic detail of being able to carry only two, I think the setup makes weapons like the assault rifle useless. And since assault rifles tend to be, like, the main weapons of most armies, that's a little ridiculous to me.

I thought the Assault rifle was the best all around weapon. Ammo was plentiful, high rate of fire, good damage once you got an elites shileds down.

Of course there's going to be more Halo. Microsoft and Bungie are going to milk it for all that it's worth.

I was playing gears of war all night, there is nothing in gears as sexy as level 2 in halo 1.

I'm gonna be on halo 3 as soon as I can get an HD input card on my PC.
