Fur on my map?
« on: October 22, 2007, 08:09:22 am »
Hello Guys!

I recently started making soldat maps, but it appears that there's some kind of fur on everything? Can anybody relate to the problem, and maybe give me the solution?

Thanks,
Mr. Prestige [DK]

I've posted 2 pictures so you guys can see what I'm talking about. It appears only when I play, not in map editing.

LOL, it's a polygon edge. Choose a texture without it in textures/edges folder or copy and rename the texture file you want to use.

Or just disable it in your Soldat settings.
But yeah, I'd rather use a texture without an edge file.
Bring back Soldat 1.3.1! New bullet trails DIE!

It's quite simple:

1. Go into your Soldat directory
2. In the Soldat directory, there is a folder named "Textures"
3. Open that folder up, and find the texture you want to use
4. Copy and paste that texture in the same place but name it something different
5. Now load that texture up in MapMaker+ or Polyworks and there you go, no edge while playing the map in Soldat

Easy enough?

Textures without edge files display errors (just a line in the console, nothing much); if you want to be absolutely perfect, make an edge graphic of 1 lime, transparent pixel.

^actually it would be perfect if it was 8 lime pixels (8 width)

For "perfection"? Really? Why not just 1? That's how the default ancientwall.bmp and a few other edges are like, and they show no problems in-game.

Well I've always thought the edges are supposed to be 8 pixels in width. Try using a JPG texture in a map (i know, its not supported, but for science sake) with an edge less than 8 pixels..
But if default textures use it, i guess 1 pixel is perfect enough ^_^
